Career's Evening, Highly Effective Teenagers
17th February 2014
Careers Evening
The Ard Scoil was buzzing on Tuesday evening, February 11th, for our careers evening. Over sixty different careers were represented, of which twenty were past pupils. Parents of students also shared their experiences and many more from the local community. I am very conscious of how precious time is to everyone and am very grateful to everyone for coming on the night.
Seven different colleges of further education had stands in the Senior Hall displaying brochures and information. The feedback from both parents and students was very positive and enthusiastic. It has certainly given our girls plenty of ‘food for thought’ for their future careers.
The whole idea was the brainchild of the Parents’ Council who worked with Kimberly Gleeson, Career Guidance & Counsellor, to make the careers evening happen. Light refreshments were provided on the night by the Parents’ Council. I commend all involved and thank them most sincerely.

Highly Effective Teenagers
On Tuesday 4th February, the TY students had a guest speaker, Clodagh Beresford, who gave a very interesting and motivational presentation on how to be an effective teenager. It was based on the book "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers" by Sean Covey. All the students really enjoyed her interactive presentation. We look forward to having her back later this year.
