Christmas Carols, Art Competition Winners, Concern Collection

Christmas Carol Service

The festive season is upon us once again as evinced by the Advent Wreathes around the school. On Friday, the school community went to the Friary Church for our annual Carol service with celebrant Fr. John Harris.

It was, once again a marvellous occasion as the readers, the musicians, the soloists and choirs brought us the story of Christmas. Thanks to religion teachers Ms O’Shea and Ms.Cotter and music teacher Mrs. Lucey and to all those who made it such a special occasion once more.

Students from all the music classes from first to sixth year participated with Dawn Drummey (3rd year) giving a wonderful solo performance of “O Holy Night” We heard a variety of musical instruments, violins, classical flute, cello, piano, tin whistle, concertina, uileann pipes, trad flute, ukulele, guitars, tambourine, recorders, and drums.

Concern Street Collection

On Thursday, December 3rd, a group of us Transition years braved the cold and organised a street collection in aid of Concern. We were delighted by the friendly and generous response of the people as they went about their business and shopping. Thanks to Maebh, Doireann, Hannah, Caitlin, Anna, Michelle, Jamie, Stephanie, Shauna, Eileen and Laura for their great efforts.

Thanks also to all of the girls who took part in the Concern Fast on Thursday, November28 and to Stephanie, Michelle, Jamie, Shauna and Eileen for making the girls’ soup to keep them going. A huge thank you to all who contributed to the collection and to those who sponsored the girls who fasted. Through all these events we gathered a magnificent €1200!

A big thanks once again to all those involved!

Maebh Power and Doireann O’Brien
