Dungarvan Dramatic Society Poster Competition
Dungarvan Dramatic Society recently held a competition to design a poster for their upcoming play, Blithe Spirit. The competition was open to T.Y. students in all the local schools and four Ard Scoil girls contributed work of note.
Highly commended were Hannah Warren and Michelle Sheehan. Emma Buckley took second prize and first prize was awarded to Maebh Power.
The prize giving and award ceremony will take place in the Town Hall Theatre on Wednesday, November 20th.
Well done to the girls and their teacher Mrs. Mary Foley
Science Essay Winner
Congratulations to T.Y. student Stephanie Curran who won first prize in the Eurofins/ Lancaster Laboratories Transition Year Science Essay Competition.
Stephanie wrote of her life on a farm to illustrate how science influences her everyday life and as first prize won an IPOD TOUCH, a week’s work experience at Eurofins Lancaster Labs in Dungarvan. She also gets to take her class to the labs for a tour with fun demonstrations.
Congratulations Stephanie! I’m sure your classmates and teacher Mr. Tommy Collins will enjoy visiting the labs with you.
Soroptimists’ Mai Higgins Concert
This concert, held last Friday was a great success and we thank the Soroptimists for including the Ard Scoil in their fundraising endeavour.
Parents Council Fundraising
Once again we are indebted to our superb Parents’ Council for their fantastic fundraising on behalf of the school. This is surely an onerous task in these straitened times but once again they have donated a cheque for €10,000 to school principal Mrs. Hughes.....for the SECOND time this year. Once again be sure of our enormous gratitude for the tremendous work you do.
Parents’ Council: Chairperson Teresa Daly and outgoing Treasurer Denise O’ Brien present cheque for €10,000 to Dorothy Hughes, Principal and Colette Power, Deputy Principal on behalf of the Parents’ Council. This was the second cheque for €10,000 presented by the Parents’ Council this year.
