Parents' Council

As the school years draws to a close, I would like to thank all the members of the Parents' Council for their support and help over the year. This help included catering at various school events, bagpacking, stewarding at the Fun Run, the clothes collection and our weekly bingo fundraiser.

I am delighted to inform our parents that the bingo is being very well supported and that the funds raised will pay for weekly rental of the Sports Centre for PE and after-school activities. We are very grateful to all the regular supporters of our school bingo.

I would especially like to thank parents of 6th year students who will be leaving the Parents' Council after years of dedicated service in supporting the school, not least Michael Sheehan for his impeccable record-keeping as secretary. The invaluable help provided to the Parents' Council by Deputy Principal Colette Power ensures that all the events and fundraisers run very smoothly, and the committee are truly grateful for this help. I look forward to welcoming new members to the committee for the next school year.

Finally, on behalf of all the Parents' Council I wish all our exam students the very best of luck. Ádh mór libh go léir.

T.Y. Graduation

The T.Y.s had a very busy last month with a visit ot the Garda Training Centre, driving lessons and of course another trip to go surfing in Tramore.  They all performed superbly in their end of year interviews, showing the many skills they had acquired during the year. They ended their year with a graduation ceremony last Tuesday, May 21st ..Before they received their certs, they entertained us with an amusing summary of their busy year. I will have a more detailed report next week.

Leaving Cert Class 2013

The Leaving Certs had their graduation Mass earlier in the month but on Wednesday morning they had their final gathering in school as they joined their tutors and year head Mrs O’Driscoll for a coffee morning and chat before heading off to Ardmore for an afternoon in the sun before settling down to their last study weeks before the exams begin.

Second years

On Thursday morning, the second year students held a surprise party to mark the  departure of their Spanish classmates, Beatriz and Patricia who have spent the last year with us in the Ard Scoil. There was much secretive comings and goings all morning as the girls prepared gifts and a feast for the unsuspecting duo. Students and teachers used various stratagems to ensure the two girls did not realise what was going on until they opened the door to shouts of “Surprise!” Bea and Patricia have been very popular with both staff and classmates and we all hope they will return in the future, perhaps for T.Y.  Indeed there had been tears on Tuesday night as T.Y. students from Germany and Spain bade Farewell to their classmates.

Lourdes Committee - Vintage Car Run

The committee would once again to thank Mr. Eamonn Foley, his family and friends for organising the Vintage Car Run on the 19th. It was a very successful day with a big turn out of fantastic cars and bikes and will greatly help the girls’ fundraising as they prepare to travel to Lourdes soon with the Diocesan |Pilgrimage as helpers to the invalids.
