"Reaching our Potential with Respect, Care and Friendship"

Summer Happenings, Welcome Back, Football Gears Up, Computer Course for Senior Citizens

3rd September 2012

Congratulations.

Congratulations to Leaving Cert. class of 2012 that did so well in their exams. They had a final gathering at their graduation ball before heading off in different directions for further studies. We wish them all the very best in their future lives.

Some Ard Scoil students, past and present, were very successful over the summer months. Well done to 5th year student Laura Connors who won the 148 7/8 year old Show Jumping competition at the Dublin Horse Show in the R.D.S. a few weeks ago.

Congratulations also to past pupil Lorna Ferncome who represented Waterford so well at the Rose of Tralee Festival.

Welcome.

We would like to wish a very warm welcome back to school to all our students. We especially welcome our new first year students; the super Cairde girls were on hand early Tuesday morning to take care of them and on Friday afternoon they organised a table quiz to help them get to know each other.

Welcome also to our foreign students who are joining classes in every year, we wish them a very happy time in the ARD Scoil.

Sports.

The football blitz for first years normally takes place later in the year but this year it’s being held in September. Mrs. Ashe is delighted to find so many eager footballers in first year and training will begin shortly.

We are delighted to have Fiona Rocheford back to the P.E. department. Fiona has had a very busy summer as she plays both football and camogie for Wexford. On Sunday she played football in the All Ireland Junior B semi-final when Wexford played against Offaly. In two week’s time she plays camogie for her county when they will meet Cork in the All Ireland final. Best of luck Fiona.

Intel Computer Skills Course.

The Intel Computer skills course for Senior Citizens will begin on September 19th. The course teams T.Y. students with the “retirees” to help them learn skill such as writing emails, using Google etc. There is always big interest in this course so those interested are advised to apply for a place as soon as possible. Please call to the school office if you are interested.
