T.Y.s Visit Tannery Cookery School
Paul Flynn at the Tannery Cookery School Speaking to Ard Scoil TY Students
On Wednesday morning our T.Y. students were delighted to accept an invitation to visit the Tannery Cookery School. On arrival they were met by Chef Paul Flynn, who explained the dishes he would cook. The girls gathered around in this magnificent kitchen and Paul demonstrated dishes which they could try to make themselves.
They were even more pleased when they realised that they were going to taste the dishes, a hearty bean cassoulet, some quesadillas, delicious chocolates with a hint of chilli, some honeycomb crunch and a delicious summer fruits foole. Every dish was declared delicious!
After the demonstration, the girls visited the fabulous gardens and some were enchanted to meet the resident hens!! Thank you to Paul and Maire Flynn for their warm welcome.

Vintage Car Run in Aid of the Lourdes Fund
On the weekend of the 12th of May, the Tipperary Light Car and Motorcycle Club held a Vintage Car Run in aid of the Ard Scoil’s Lourdes Fund. On Saturday evening the IVVCC gave us permission to sell raffle tickets at their stop-over in the Park Hotel. They were very generous. On Sunday we had our own Vintage Rally, starting off down the Lookout and ending up in Bridgie Terries, with a stop in Mellary along the way. We made different types of sandwiches, which we served with tea and coffee and homemade scones, kindly made by Mrs Peggy Moloney. The fine weather and great atmosphere drew many drivers and spectators alike.

At the end of the run we all gathered back in Bridgie Terries where the drivers had a meal and there was brilliant music played by Hannah Power, Hannah Murphy-Nicks and Maeve Brockie. We then had our raffle with fabulous prizes donated by our many sponsors, who we would like to thank very much. Our teacher, Mr Collins, then held an auction of more donated prizes. We would like to give a huge thanks to Eamonn, Nora and the Foley family and the committee of the Vintage Club, who did monumental work in organising the day and helping it to run as smoothly as possible, and thanks also to everyone else who helped out and turned up on the day.
A total of €1469 was raised!

Junior School’s Quiz
On Thursday the 10th of May the Ard Scoil Lourdes Youth Helpers held a quiz for Primary School Students, to fundraise for their trip to Lourdes with the Waterford and Lismore Diocesan Pilgrimage, from the 6th to 11th of June. We had a great turnout from the Local Schools in the Dungarvan and surrounding parishes.

We appreciate very much everyone’s participation, donations and support. We would like to thank all the local shops, that sponsored wonderful spot prizes: Murphy’s Toymaster, Dalton Jewellers, Ger Wyley’s, Jitterbeans, SGC Cinema, The Allrounder, Mr Duffy’s Sweet Shop, David Walsh’s, Venture Outdoor and Surf Shop, The Park Hotel Leisure Centre and the Mercy Sisters Dungarvan.
Table Quiz Contestants
We had an exciting night at our quiz thanks to our Jedward-loving, entertaining and energetic quizmaster Mr Tommy Collins of the Ard Scoil. We thank also Mrs Mary Leahy, Mrs Catherine Farrell, Mrs Collette Power and Mrs Susan Wade, for giving up their spare time to come in and help on the night. We thank our teachers, who supported us in the organisation of our quiz, which raised a total of €620. A final thanks to everyone for your support and we will light a candle for your intentions in Lourdes.
