Pre-Christmas Activities.
First year students with Mrs. Jean O Donovan present cheque to members of Dungarvan Lions' Club.
As well as enjoying the festive spirit before the holidays, the Ard Scoil students were involved in many charitable events too. Throughout the year, the girls do tremendous work fundraising for different charities such as the West Waterford Hospice. Before Christmas, each class filled a hamper for the Lions Club Christmas Appeal and for the same cause we had the annual sponsored swim.
This has been organised for the past fifteen years by Mrs. Jean O’Donovan and she was delighted to find that, even in these difficult times, the response was very good. Relays of swimmers travelled to Clonea Leisure Centre to take part and raised a magnificent €1500 for this worthy cause. Mrs O’Donovan would like to thank all the swimmers, the T.Y “counters”, the sponsors, Mr. Matt Faherty who provided the bus free of charge as did the management of the Leisure Centre.
Students were also busy selling cards and calendars in aid of the Guide Dogs Association and look forward to a visit of one of the puppies this term!
The Amnesty group were busy writing cards to political prisoners all over the world while others were selling chocolate bars in aid of the Hope Foundation. And we mustn’t forget all the girls who fasted to raise funds for Concern.
Well done to you all!!

First Year Concert.
To round off the year, the first years had a concert when they performed the pieces they had been rehearsing with Elocution teacher, Mrs Joan Clancy. We thoroughly enjoyed the performances and it’s obvious we need not worry about leading stars for future Ard Scoil Dramatic Productions.

2.3 bid farewell to classmate Brona Campbell.
For the first term of the year, the class of 2.3 gained a new member, Brona Campbell, who decided to swap her class in the States for an Irish one. From the start Brona threw herself enthusiastically into all aspects of school life and was a popular addition to third year. We wish her well in her studies and look forward to a return visit in the future.

New Year.
As we start the New Year, our exam class students will be preparing for their “Pre” exams and of course the Leaving Certs will be filling in the infamous CAO form. The best advice is Keep calm, study sensibly and steadily and... Do Your Best. Mrs Gleeson and Mr. Cunningham will be there to advise them on their choices and help them through this stressful time. We wish all our students and all the members of the school community a Very Happy New Year.
