Art Exhibition at Árd Scoil on Wednesday 26th - 27th October 2011
This summer the corridors and stairwells in Árd Scoil na nDéise were painted. In preparation, the many student paintings lining the walls had to be taken down. And, now that the remodeling work is finished, Ard Scoil has rehung many of the paintings along with plentiful creations by current students.
The diverse collection of paintings and craftwork by past and present students is really stunning. Each is unique. Several of the former students whose works are represented on the re-painting-ed walls have emerged as talents in the world of art and design since their graduations.
Árd Scoil Principal Dorothy Hughes says, “We cater for the individual student and allow them scope to flourish in all the different disciplines practical, academic and physical, offered in the school. Our Art Department, under the direction of Mary Foley is a wonderful example of this and we are proud to continue in the tradition established by her over the past twenty-seven years."
The public is invited to attend the official re-opening of the school "art museum" on Wednesday October 26th between 7- 9pm in aid of West Waterford Hospice. Or, feel free to pop into the school the following day, Thursday the 27th between 9 – 3pm, to view this remarkable collection.
