Transition Year Surfing
Last Wednesday, September 7th, the Ard Scoil transition years went surfing on Tramore beach. It was a cold day, and the water was freezing, but the staff was friendly and very encouraging and we plunged straight in. After getting used to the initial shock of the cold water, we began to really enjoy it. Some people got the hang of it straight away while others had a little trouble! By the end of the morning we all felt like pros.
After a quick lunch we headed off on a hike through the sand dunes. The wind was bracing but our guide, Alan, made sure the hike was very interesting. We managed to get back to the bus, all completely exhausted, but still with enough energy for a sing-song on the way home!

6th Year retreat.
On Wednesday, September 7th, the 6th year girls of Ard Scoil went on a visit to Mount Melleray. When we arrived, we were brought into what the monks referred to as “The Lodge” to watch a short informative video telling us all about their life in the monastery.
When that was over, Fr. Denis Luke told us about the prayers and how the monks get up at 4.00 a.m. every day and congregate seven times each day for prayers and readings. We then had a break in the nice cafe where the apple tart got lots of praise from the hungry students! Full up from the lovely treats in the cafe, we headed over to the church for the 12.15 Mass.
Following Mass, we split into two groups, one group going upstairs for a meditation class which was directed by our sadly missed former teacher, Mrs. Collins. We got back on the bus at about 3.00p.m. very refreshed after this well needed meditation. All in all it was a very enjoyable and inspiring day but of course when we got back to school, many of us headed into study.....oh the Joy!!!

First Year Blast
On Tuesday the 6th of September TY students from Ard Scoil na nDeise organised a fun afternoon for our new first year students after lunch. The aim of the afternoon was to encourage first year students to make friends outside classes while having a blast. We organised many activities which all students got a chance to participate in like football, sack races, tug of war and nerfing.
The afternoon took a lot of organising among a small group of dedicated and motivated TY students that included Evie McGrath, Cheyenne Tobin, Ellie Walsh, Emma Power, Tara Healy, Niamh Kiely, Jessie O'Brien, Chloe Keane and Eimear O'Donnell. The afternoon was a great success and was enjoyed by all. Well done to all first years involved.

Junior Cert Results
At long last, on Wednesday, this years’ Junior Cert students will finally get the results of the exams. I’m sure we’ll have lots of squeals of excitement as they open their envelopes. Best of luck girls.
