Friday Night Concert for African Orphans
Ard Scoil Leaving Cert student Tara Roche has decided to take a gap year after completing her secondary school education this year. However, instead of a pleasure trip to the usual hot spots, Tara is travelling to Cape Town in South Africa to work in an orphanage which homes up to 72 orphans. Tara’s volunteering spirit will be no surprise to those who have worked with her in the Ard Scoil; whether it was reorganising the Library, helping to complete Graduation Mass books or her “no bother” answer to requests for help in one project or another, she was always willing to give her time. Her friends will also attest to her kind and helpful nature.
Tara will travel out to Cape Town with her friend, Graham McKelvie, in January to work with the i to i team in the orphanage. Of course they need to fund raise for such an undertaking and have put together an excellent line-up for the concert on Friday night in the Town Hall.
Performing on the night will be the following groups and solo artistes; The Silent Treatment; Alan Butler; Sarah Szucs; Tom power; Dearbhla Coffey; Justin Power and Vinnie Robson; Layla Quarry; Graham McKelvie; The Supernovas; Arah; Declan Hyland; Panikon Deima; Jennifer Moore Anna and Dearbhla; Anna and Sarah; Dessie Norris; Aoife Fahey.
As you can see from this list, the performers will suit every age and every musical taste, from rock to traditional music! With so many superb musicians and singers, a great night is assured for all. So, for a good night out, AND to help the orphans, please come and enjoy this music fest with us.
Tickets, €12. are available from Mc Grath’s shop or at the Town Hall on the night. The concert starts at 8.00p.m. For any further information, please contact Tara at 087 7746233.
