Final Term of School Year.
We return to school after our Easter break for the final weeks of work, thinking especially of our third and sixth years as they prepare for their State exams in June. I’m sure they didn’t have much time to enjoy the glorious holiday weather and will probably be glad to see a return to more usual temperatures. The weeks before the break were full of Oral and practical exams so I’m sure they were glad of some respite before these last crucial week of final preparation.
Mental Health Photographic and Cover Design Competition.
The Mental Health Association of Ireland recently organised a competition divided into two sections: a photographic section and a contest to design a cover. We were thrilled to be told of our two Leaving Cert Art student winners; Sarah Fitzgerald won 1st prize in the photographic section while Paulina Masterletz won first prize in Cover design. Congratulations to the girls and their Art teacher, Mrs. Mary Foley.

Lourdes Committee Colouring Competition.
We recently held a Colouring Competition to help fundraise for our Youth pilgrimage to Lourdes which will take place this June. We received outstanding entries from St. Mary’s P.S., St. Joseph’s P.S. and Villierstown N.S. which we found extremely difficult to judge. We thank all participants and are very grateful for their entries.

Annual Fun Run.
On Friday, April 15th, the term ended with the annual Fun Run organised by our wonderful Parents’ Council to help raise fund for the school, all the more necessary nowadays with so many cutbacks in Government funding. Top prize for colourful costumes must go to the T.Y students who took a novel approach to their team of super heroes! The 6th year Economics students fashioned very relevant “Recession Hats” from old newspapers while the junior classes really entered into the spirit with their outfits and enthusiasm, many opting to cover the route three times! A big thank you to the Parents’ Council, the students and all the sponsors who contributed to this fundraiser. All entrants’ names were entered into a draw for the many “spot” prizes the Council had organised.
Photographs show the prize winners with members of the Parents’ Council and participants along the route.
Students’ Council.
The students’ council members have organised many charitable fundraisers during the year and recently contributed to the Lourdes Pilgimage committee who have been working hard all year to raise funds for their trip to Lourdes in June when they will join the Diocesan pilgrimage to help with those pilgrims who are ill. I’m sure the girls will, once again, find this a very rewarding experience.
