17th January 2011 Newsletter
Congratulations to Our Scholarship Girls!
Well done to two of our T.Y. students who were recently presented with their scholarship awards by the principal, Mrs. Dorothy Hughes.
Earl of Cork Scholarship.
This scholarship, based on her outstanding Junior Cert. results was awarded to Abigail de Souza. Although the monetary value of these scholarships is not what it was originally, it is a very prestigious award and we congratulate Abi on her success.
Principal Dorothy Hughes congratulates Abigail de Souza and her proud parents for winning the Earl of Cork scholarship.
The Burke Memorial Prize.
This prize is awarded in memory of Thomas Henry Burke (1829-1888) who was Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. This year the prize went to Una McGrath based on her excellent Junior Cert results.

Both girls are now in T.Y. and are showing why they earned these awards as they are so involved in all aspects of T.Y. life. Well done to both of you .

Following their very successful production of this musical in December, the First Years will reprise their roles this week in performances for Primary school pupils and their schoolmates in the Ard Scoil. I’m sure the show will be just as enjoyable this time under the direction of Year Head Mrs. Margaret Dennehy, music teacher Mrs. Ciara Lucey and choreographer Ms. Emillie Pickering.
