The A-Factor
On Wednesday 20th of October Ard Scoil na nDeise held its very own version of the x-factor. The event was organised by the TYs in order to raise money for the victims of the Pakistan floods. The TYs put a lot of hard graft into running the event and the effort really paid off as the talent show was spectacular.
A variety of acts from the school took part. There was singing, dancing and even hula hoop acts, the latter of which had the audience in stitches. Congratulations to all the winners a a big thank you to everyone who participated. €605 was raised for the cause!

Trinity
Last Wednesday our school was visited by the religious music band Trinity. The quartet hails from the Netherlands, although three of the members, the Smelt brothers, spent their childhood in Peru. And it is obvious that this South American connection has had an influence upon the musical styling of the band, who chose to rock an up tempo Peruvian beat. Perhaps in a tribute to Ireland they blended a Celtic tone into the mix!
The Band completed four mini gigs, to first, second and third year audiences – all of whom were greatly enthralled. The group sang from their latest album Este Momento and really got the crowds going, every girl screaming her lungs out in joy. The music was fabulous and we hope to hear more from them again.

TY
Last Friday the TYs underwent a manual handling course with Liam Moore. Starting bright and early at 9am, the girls were given a brief introduction as to why health and safety in the workplace is so important. This was followed by a viewing of some gruesome pictures and videos showing the hazards in the workplace. After a full day of the manual handling course, the TY girls sat an exam on what they had learned. We are glad to say we all passed and will now be ready for our upcoming Work Experience!
