Camogie
On Wednesday 26th September our Under 16 camogie team travelled to De La Salle GAA pitch to compete in a Waterford camogie tournament. Our first game was against St. Pauls where we had an excellent victory with a score line of 5:3 to no score. The second game we played was against the Abbey B team which we also won with a scoreline of 4.6 to no score. Our final match in the group stages was against presentation, Clonmel; we went another game without conceding a score leaving us winners by 10 goals and 6 points.
By winning all of our group matches, we got through to the semi final against De la Salle. This was a very tough match but fortunately we beat them 3.1 to 2.1. We advanced to the final where we played the Abbey A team. It was a tough game which showed good camogie on both sides. However, we were unfortunate not to be victorious in this final, losing by 1.2 to 1 goal.
Well done to all the players and coach, Ms. Pickering. The team that travelled to De La Salle included; Kayleigh Veale, Taylor Murray, Stella Queally. Aoife Landers, Angela McIntoshOrla Hickey, Lauren McGregor, Aileen Gallagher, Una McGrath, Hannah O’Connell, Orla Dunne, Louise Conway, Ciara Hurley, Michaela Moran, Grace Heffernan and Dearbhla Flynn.

T.Y. News.
As usual, the T.Y. students have been very busy. They have begun their Intel course where they partner retirees to teach them computer skills such as sending and receiving emails. They are also enjoying their Art classes with their friends from Carriglea. However, with all that’s going on they have found time to be involved in various charitable fundraising events. Two of the students suggested the recent Blue and white day and both classes recently held cake sales in Aid of West Waterford Hospice. Together with funds from a staff coffee break, they raised €350. Well done girls…….and next week we’ll have news of the “A Factor” talent show which they are organising.
First Years Enjoy a “ Petit Dejeuner Francais”
On Friday, the first year French students organised a very colourful “French Breakfast” to which they invited their classmates from the German class. The red, white and blue of the French flag coloured the senior hall with flags, posters, table settings and wonderful bilingual menus on display. With café au lait, chocolat chaud, croissants and other delights served by the extremely efficient “serveuses”, it was a very enjoyable event where the students realised there’s more to studying French than learning the verbs!!!
