Letter to Parents - Important Calendar Changes & Events

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I would like to inform you of some forthcoming events and calendar changes.
Monday, October 11th.
Classes will finish at 2.30 p.m. due to a staff meeting, as indicated on your calendar.
Thursday, October 21st.
Sixth Year Parent/Teachers meeting. 4.15 p.m. – 6.45 p.m.
Friday, October 22nd.
Classes will finish at 12.55 p.m.
The school tour to Italy involving 49 students and 6 teachers was due to start on Sunday,
October 24th. Due to flight cancellation, the group must now travel on the Friday morning,
resulting in staffing changes in the school. Transition Year students will have no school on
that day.
An important meeting for parents/guardians of all students travelling to Italy will
take place in the Senior Hall at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14th. I would like all
students to attend with their parents, please.
Monday, November 1st.
All Saints Day, Holy Day of Obligation.
Teachers will work on School Development Planning, so students will have no classes and
will return to school on Tuesday, November 2nd.
We recently had the Board of Management election to fill the vacancy for a parent
representative, and Mr. Paul Heffernan will join the Board. At the Parents’ Council A.G.M.
Mrs. Teresa Daly was elected Chairperson for the coming year, Mr. Michael Sheehan will
continue as Secretary and Mrs. Denise O’Brien will continue as Treasurer. A presentation
was made to Mr. Maurice Power in recognition of his excellent work as Chairperson last
year. We are very grateful to the many parents who will serve on the Parents’ Council this
year, and I would ask you all to support their work in every way you can.
