Congratulations to Junior Cert 2010 for Excellent Results
Newsletter - 19th September, 2010
Congrats to our wonderful Junior Cert 2010 class for their excellent results on Wednesday. To celebrate these and the Leaving Cert results and to mark the start of this academic year, the school community went to the Friary Church on Friday, where Mass was celebrated by Chaplain Fr Flor O’Callaghan.
Ciara Walsh and Eilis O’Keeffe welcomed all to the Mass and the first year choir sang This Little Light Of Mine.
The Penitential Rite was read by Samantha Hayes and Zoe Crotty. The first reading was by Roisin Hally, followed by Rebecca Hodnett who sang On Eagle’s Wings. The third reading was delivered by Claire Collins.
Prayers of the faithful were read by Niamh Carleton, Jessica Meere, Jessica O’Brian, Aisling Hayes, Patricia Regan, Lucy Whelan and Jenny Hurley.
The Offertory Procession commentary was spoken by Abigail De Souza while the gifts were brought by Emily, Courtney, Catriona, Laura and Louise.
The Junior Trad group performed Iosa and the choir sang Amazing Grace, and Jennifer Moore sang Voice of an Angel.
The communion reflection was given by Aileen Gallagher and Aine Power.
The Cairde Girls received their pins of commission and took their oath to serve the school community for the coming year.
In his homily Fr Flor gave us this message “We are as small as our fear and despair, and as great as our courage and hope.”
Principal Mrs Hughes welcomed our new first years and our over seas students and thanked all involved in the Mass, Fr Flor, religion teachers Ms Cotter, Ms O’Shea and Mrs Lucey (also music co-ordinator). Once again the talented choirs, solo singers and all the readers and musicians made this a very special Ard Scoil occasion.
