Open Night for Prospective Pupils
Thursday, January 28th, at 7.30
On Thursday, January 28th, at 7.30 we welcome all prospective pupils for September 2010 to the Ard Scoil.
The evening will begin when Principal Mrs. Dorothy Hughes will address the girls and their parents. Following a guided tour, in small groups, of the school, refreshments will be served.
This is an excellent opportunity to visit the school, meet the teachers and view our support facilities, and discuss course options.
As well as teachers of main stream subjects, our Careers Teacher and Counsellor and Resource and Support teachers will be at hand to answer your questions. We obviously take pride in the academic achievements of our students at all levels, but our aim is that, following happy and productive years at the Ard Scoil, our students emerge as confidant and capable young women, ready for the challenges of the adult world.
The girls and their parents will have the opportunity to visit our Science labs, cookery kitchens, dress design rooms, language lab, computer room, Art studio, music room, prayer room and library. As well as the facilities of the super computer room, pupils have access to computers in the library, geography room and indeed one is always available in the foyer.
Visitors are always delighted by the performances of our musicians and the display of superb art work. Our P.E. teachers and their students will display the many sporting activities of the Ard Scoil, noting the superb results in many fields by our pupils.
As well as having video – DVD – TV's available on every corridor, we now have magnificent video and audio facilities in the two halls and the demonstration room, our own mini-cinemas! These are always busy, with teachers of various subjects availing of their use. They are particularly useful for senior English classes where film is now an integral part of course work.
We look forward to meeting you on Thursday, January 2010 at 7.30pm and showing you our school and its excellent facilities.
