September 2009 - Junior Cert Results
Junior Cert Results.
Well done to our Junior Cert students who achieved such excellent results in their exams. The tension was palpable in the school on Wednesday morning as they awaited the call to collect the brown envelope. Finally the time arrived and they were free to go and celebrate with their families.
School Mass.
On Friday, to celebrate the wonderful results of our Junior and Leaving Cert students and to mark the beginning of the new school year, the students, staff, the Mercy Sisters, members of the Board of Management and the Parents’ Council went to the Friary Church to join our chaplain, Fr. Flor O’Callaghan in his celebration of the Mass.
Our new First Years sang the opening hymn, “Bind us together Lord” as the Cairde girls walked in a candlelight procession to the altar. Following words of welcome from Dearbhla Coffey, Fr. Flor lead us in the opening prayer.
Richael Hayes spoke the first Reading and this was followed by the Responsorial Psalm, sung by Rebecca Hodnett and Zoe Scanlon who were accompanied by Dearbhla Whelan.
After the second Reading by Charlotte Govier, the choir lead the congregation in the Alleluia.
Fr. Flor read the Gospel and in his homily welcomed everyone, especially the new students. As usual his words were relevant and attuned to the students of the different years as they begin their studies.
The Prayers of the Faithful were read by Roisin Claffey, Ellen Power, Kate Hynes, Zoe Crotty, Grace O’Sullivan and Gina Gleeson.
The Offertory commentary was read by Patricia Regan as Laura, Kristi, Roisin, Sheridan, Mrs Hughes and Mrs Power carried gifts to the altar.

The Acclamation, “he is Lord” and the Communion Hymns, “Look at the World” and “A Mhuire Mhathair” were sung by the choir who were accompanied by the talented musicians. The Communion Reflection was read by Rebecca Yellop.
